oil paintings

Do you know what oil paintings are? As a process, oil painting involves the use of pigments bounding with a medium of drying oil. Artists mix these pigments and make use of them to create the wondrous works of art and beauty known as oil paintings, many of which have been displayed in great halls. Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa is only one of the many famous works that classify as oil paintings. Other famous artists who excelled in paintings are Rembrandt, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh and Raphael.
Ask any art collector about how to get started on building up your own collection and most often than not, they would only have one common answer:oil paintings. A small part of you would probably have a longing to own something created by an artist which are of the same caliber as the ones just mentioned. But this would require you to be super rich or have as much money as the world's wealthiest men to get your hand on those types of paintings. Even if you settle for reproductions, you would still probably find them on the pricey side.
Do not let that stop you, however. You will never have a shortage of oil paintings that will be worth your money. If you go to some art galleries or art dealers, especially the smaller ones, you might be able to buy oil paintings made by local talent. Who knows, the oil painting by a relatively unknown artist ten years ago could increase in value today when that artist has made a big name for himself.
Artworks are also sold in some auctions so you can go there if want to buy oil paintings. You can see a lot of talent in art competitions so they are also a good place to start looking at oil paintings that might catch your eye.
Oil paintings are also often taken pictures of and uploaded in some of the many sites where unknown artists post their works of art for sale. Online art galleries who aim to bring more original oil paintings from all over the world are now flourishing. The oil painting of a relatively unknown artist from a country in Asia can now be owned by an avid art collector from the West.
Buying online involves the risk of being given fake paintings or receiving the paintings in bad condition. Buy only from trusted online art galleries and you can do that by doing some research or background check on the website and also finding out what other customers say about them.
Buy oil paintings but do not make your decision based only on the fact that they are the cheapest. You should also make sure the subject of the oil painting itself appeals to you and talks to the art lover in you. Soon enough, you will be an oil painting connoisseur and know exactly which ones are worth buying and which are to be ignored.
